challah back

Balthazar is one of the best restaurants in nyc…and their brunch is ridiculous. so when i came across their recipe for french toast, i was so excited to give it a whirl.

day old challah bread works best

whisk all the ingredients together

let the bread soak in a shallow dish 3 minutes per side

after melting butter, skim the top to remove white foamy things

make sure to brown each side until crispy

serve immediately with powdered sugar (turkey bacon goes deliciously)

spongy deliciousness

it is very worth all of the steps!

PS-i don’t mean to say Martha Stewart is wrong, but…the recipe suggest to put toast in oven while cooking the remaining ones…try not to do this, it deflates them. serve as ready.
