italian breakfast

the first time i saw this recipe in Giada’s Everyday Italian Cookbook, i hesitated to make it since it is a little odd sounding. after my first bite, i was hooked and make it whenever i have the ingredients lying around, and i add and delete ingredients depending on what’s in the refrigerator.

1.) start with any rustic bread–this time i used sourdough

2.) toast a piece of of the bread until lightly brown. rub with a clove of garlic and sprinkle with olive oil.

3.) cook an egg sunny side up (about 4 minutes), and top with salt and pepper.

4.) top bread with warm marinara sauce, then cheese (parmesan works best–all i had was cheddar), then egg. since i was making bacon for someone else’s breakfast, i broke up one and topped it with it.

it’s so easy…make it for your family this holiday week 🙂
