fashionista friday-kate moss

when i was thinking who to do a bio on today, i could have sworn i had already done kate–so i was thrilled to see that i hadn’t–she truly is one of my faves. and what better time because she just got married to jamie hince from the kills (also one of my faves).

-born in london in 1974 to a barmaid and a travel agent

-she was never the greatest at academics but always did well in sports

-moss was discovered at 14 in the JFK airport, but her career really began at 16 when she was on the cover of “the face”–a british publication

-she became known as the “anti-model” of the 90’s since she wasn’t super tall or curvaceous like everyone in those days

-everyone knows her for being part of that “heroin chic” look of the 90’s that was so popular and constantly questioned for her weight

-thoughout the 90’s she was on multiple “sexiest” lists, and is one of the world’s top grossing models to date

-in the early 2000’s, she became not only just a model but a fashion icon–she’s really noted in starting the boho-chic look with the likes of sienna miller and the olsens

-in 2005, she really hit rock bottom when photos started circulating of her doing lines on a table–chanel, burberry, and h&m all dropped her within a nano second. there was really no way around it, so she ended up issuing this statement:

“I take full responsibility for my actions. I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them,” she said. “I want to apologize to all of the people I have let down because of my behaviour, which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others.”

-kate continued work with dior and was eventually acquitted on all charges for lack of evidence. i feel like since then, she’s gotten it together. she has a beautiful daughter, lila grace, and got married last week in a gorgeous galliano gown.
