this has not been too shabby of a place to come for work: nice stores to visit, great seafood, and the hotel has been wonderful. hotel indigos have always been nice to stay in, but I’ve never stayed in one for work. i think it takes a work trip to realize how welcoming, homey, and clean a hotel is because you are in it much more than a vacation. my room is so cheery and bright!

how great is that wallpaper?
this weekend was a long one for me after working all last weekend, which was much needed. there is nothing better than having an extra day to clean and get organized and not have to waste one of your weekend days with it. here is an overview of what my weekend entailed.
turning on music instead of the tv
found a perfect frame to display some of our polaroids
finally having time to take a bath
bearing the cold for the winter beer festival-the view from the westside if my favorite
found the perfect mirrors at scott's for over the cabinet in the hallway
found knobs at anthro for the cabinet too
discovered that highland bakery has the best bagels in the city
recently, my sweet grandmother gave my dad, who was kind enough to give to me, her record system. not only did it come with the player, but the receiver (complete with 8-track player), speakers, and an amazing cabinet that my grandfather built. this comes with such a sentimental value, and we have been wanting a record player from some time now–so i am doubly excited about this.
i also was lucky enough to receive all the old records too–with great artists like louis armstrong, dean martin, and frank sinatra.
we went immediately to criminal records in l5p and picked out a few of our fav albums that we knew would sound great on the system.
in all honesty, tory burch is never high on my priority list. i bought a couple of pairs of her shoes when she came onto the scene, but it quickly became tiring to see them on everyone’s foot everywhere you turn–and when thinking about her clothes when she first started, “buckhead betty” is the only thing that comes to mind.
well, in the past couple of seasons, that has all changed. she has really come into her designing niche, and every season i am more excited than the last-and this fall is in line with that:
*you can find everything here on toryburch.com
driving home for lunch yesterday, i could just feel fall was on the way: the position of the sun in the sky, the lack of humidity that has plagued us all summer, and even though it was 78–the breeze had a crispness to it.
of course fall clothes started creeping into my mind, and no one does everyday fall better than madewell. so here are some of my fav’s, and how i see wearing them:
1.) leopard sandal– with socks and a cute, flared skirt or without socks and skinny cords
2.) sweatshorts– with a chunky sweater and some black booties
3.) long skirt– i like how they have it shown, but i also see it with a cropped, bright-color sweater
4.) belle by sigerson morrison booties– what can you not wear these with?
5.) polka-dot socks– peaking out of some black, patent leather mary-janes
6.) jean shirt– i have worn out my chambray madewell shirt, so this would be the perfect substitute
7.) pullover– i would love this for layering with a denim vest or blazer
8.) scarf– this color is so perfect in the fall for a pop with any outfit
